Birding Walk on the Millennium Lilac Trail
This year we are excited to offer a very special experience!
The Warkworth area abounds with birds, and the Warkworth Millennium Lilac Trail is a great place to see and hear them, especially on an early morning in May. We’d like to share this experience with you.
Join our local bird watcher and guide Christine Watt for an early morning walk along the Millennium Lilac Trail. Walking with her along the Trail, you will have a chance to meet some of these beautiful but often shy denizens of our woods and fields.
The Bird Watching Walk will begin at 8AM on Saturday May 26, 2018 and will last about an hour, although you are welcome to stay after and explore. Because bird watching is such a unique experience, we need to limit the number of people on the Walk.
If you are interested in joining us, register for the Bird Watching Walk by sending an email to WLFTours@gmail.com. Let us know you’d like to join our Bird Watching Walk, and include your name and phone number so we can contact you with further details, along with any questions you might have. The walk is free, but we welcome donations to support the development and maintenance of the Lilac Millennium Trail.
The Trail is wheelchair accessible. Plan to dress for the weather. If you have binoculars or a camera, bring them along – and your curiousity too!
We look forward to seeing you!
A few words from our Guide
“My love of bird watching began when I was a very little girl, because my mother gave me her love of it. One morning when I was about four or five years old, my mom woke me a bit earlier than usual and whispered in my ear…”come with me, I want to show you something…” I went and she pointed out the kitchen window to the tree line at the back of our property and said, “see that big bird at the top of the tree?” I did see and she told me it was a snowy owl!
It was my first snowy owl and I’m still looking for another sighting (which I haven’t yet had). In any case, I’ve had a passion for birding ever since, and without giving you my age, suffice to say that’s been quite a while. I hope you’ll join me, whether you have a small interest or an expert one, I know we’ll see many wonderful birds – maybe even an snowy owl! I’m not a certified ornithological expert, but I do know many of the sorts of birds we have in this wonderful part of the country and we’ll have a good time looking and seeing. So, come with me, I want to show you something…….”
