A thirty day celebration of the lilac showcasing many rare lilac varieties. The Festival is held in Warkworth, a unique rural and sophisticated town just 90 minutes east of Toronto – 30 minutes south east of Peterborough – 50 minutes west of Kingston. Opening festivities take place during the last weekend of May and are packed with events and activities for the entire family, as well as the gardener and the lilac enthusiast. Varieties of lilacs are early, mid and late blooming over a thirty to forty day period. With over sixty five varieties on view you are certain to catch lilacs in bloom along our Millennium Lilac Trail any day during our “THIRTY DAYS OF LILACS” event. And be sure to Follow Us on Facebook to keep up with all our news!
For 2017 we are organizing kids events on Main Street and the Lilac Trail during the opening weekend. Be sure to mark your calendar and plan a visit during the Opening Weekend in Warkworth.
What better way to celebrate our 150th than by including a Miss Canada Lilac in your garden. Bright red buds change to a vibrant pink, offering a spicy fragrance. A late bloomer that repeat blooms, this lilac brings a lovely buttery leaf in the fall. Perfect for hedges and easy to maintain as a semi-dwarf. Happy birthday, Canada!
