A celebration of the lilac, showcasing many rare lilac varieties. The month-long Festival is held in Warkworth, a unique rural and sophisticated town just 90 minutes east of Toronto – 30 minutes south east of Peterborough – 50 minutes west of Kingston. Opening festivities take place during the last weekend of May and are packed with activities for the entire family, as well as the gardener and the lilac enthusiast. Varieties of lilacs are early, mid and late blooming over a thirty to forty day period. With more than eighty varieties on view you are certain to catch lilacs in bloom along our Millennium Lilac Trail any day during the Festival. In 2017 the Festival was winner of a Canada 150 Garden Experience Award. Be sure to Follow Us on Facebook to keep up with all our news!
Every year the Festival presents exciting Canadian Jazz artists as part of the Lilac Festival. In 2017 it was John Alcorn who ‘made the music come alive’!
